Whixall Moss Visitor Centre

Client: Shropshire Wildlife Trust

Project Description

We were commissioned by Shropshire Wildlife Trust to produce proposals for a new visitor centre on the site of a former scrapyard in North Shropshire. Due to contamination issues the existing concrete base has to remain undisturbed which prompted the re-use of some of the sites 100,000 tyres to build retaining walls and ‘hedge-banks’, to separate the various activity zones. The resulting scheme is a bold and imaginative ‘interpretative playscape’ that relates both to the history and ecology of its locality and the immediate site context.

What our clients say …

“Mark helped us design an interpretive playscape. We loved the imagination and understanding of the site in his design. I’d certainly recommend Design With Nature Ltd”
